I’ve noticed that most of the photography portfolio websites out there are Flash based got to wondering. Is that there are not good looking alternatives built with HTML/CSS/JS? I find that hard to believe considering the number of javascript gallery plugins there are out there (just searching for “jquery galler plugin” returns more than enough potential links in the first page)

Anyways,  I’ve been playing with the Flickr API, SASS and jQuery’s getJSON function since yesterday and ended up with Fade To Black. It’s a simple portfolio template that reads data from your Flickr photostream and display your photos in a nice little gallery. More details available here.

Fade to Black

Just got back into school and I’m already tired. Had to wait over two hours for my bus to get rolling and when I got to Kumasi, I had to make sure I didn’t fleeced by the taxi driver. Anyways, I’ve got my room and should be settled in real soon. Will keep you posted.

PS: My back hurts like hell. Must be from sitting in a bus for 5 hours straight.

Well… Finally got things up and running. Still having some issues with incorrectly set DNS entries (should be resolved within 24 – 48 hours). Anyways, now that I’ve gotten the site up and running, all I need is some content and people to write it. Gotten a few friends on board and everything should come together in the next week. I think I’ll play it safe for now and write about stuff I like. The other guys can write about stuff they like and …. well you get the idea.

So, I guess that’s it for the notorious/famous/important/overrated first post. More content to follow.
