A Tale of Two Break-Ins
September 2nd, 2008

This post was originally meant to be a review of the HP Pavilion dv6915nr, which I had gotten about two weeks ago to use at school. Unfortunately, that is not meant to be. A couple of days after I got to school, a very enterprising burglar broke into the house where my friends and I were staying were staying and made away with my laptop & phone, my roomates phone and another housemate’s PS2.

It’s rather unfortunate since the notebook was a late birthday gift from my mum and I know she worked really hard to get it for me. I still haven’t told her about the bulgary because I’m not sure how she will take it. I’ve made a report to the police but I’m not sure how far that’s going to go since the police are overstretched and underequipped. Hopefully, someone will come up with some information that will allow them to retrieve the missing items.

We’ve also had to move because there was another attempted break in a few days later and we didn’t really feel safe anyway. So I’m finally more or less settled in new hostel and hopefully things will start looking up for me. I hope to raise some cash and get a new machine real soon.

Anyways, life goes on and so does the Haunted Shell.

  1. I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry but your situation is really sad indeed. On the day day you were going to review your laptop, they stole it! Wow! Sorry, but pick your balls and tell your mum! Then go out to town and build yourself a dual CPU server with W2K8 and Ubuntu!
